It's time for our Fall 2009 Session of Christian Education courses! Register today for several new offerings that are slated to begin between Wednesday, September 9th and Sunday, September 13th. As always, childcare is available should you need it for children ages infant-K.

6:8 a Justice Journey
One look at the evening news reminds us that we live in a broken and a hurting world. Begin a journey that reveals God's plan for mercy and justice. In this class we will learn what the main differences are between mercy and justice, what it means to "love mercy", and how we can take first steps of actually living this thing out. You will also have a place to process where you are in the journey, wrestle with common stumbling blocks, and examine what God has to say to about all of this. Join us for this 6 week class starting September 9.

IDENTITY
Your true self. Your greatest worth.
Alien, Ambassador, Bride, Child, Friend, Priest, Servant. The Bible clearly describes followers of Christ as all of these things. Our world has a way of twisting reality and making us think we are defined by words like smart, successful, rich, athletic, powerful, beautiful. This course will help you understand who God says you really are and will help you put your faith into motion with practical responses to each empowering and liberating identifier. Understanding and living out our true identity in Christ is foundational to being a Christ follower.

ESTHER: IT'S TOUGH BEING A WOMAN
Join Beth Moore in an in-depth and very personal examination of this great story of threat and deliverance. If you've ever felt inadequate, threatened or trapped into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the study for you! Beth peels back the layers of history and shows how very contemporary and applicable the story of Esther is to us. This portion of God's Word contains treasures to help us in our hurried, harried, and pressured lives.
This class is for WOMEN ONLY and is being offered twice on Wednesdays. Choose either the morning or evening offering. This study will continue into 2010, wrapping up in March.

DISCOVERY
(Special Discovery Weekend)
Join us on a journey of Discovery. This weekend course (Friday night/Saturday) will explore how God uniquely created us and how he has wired us to grow in truth, develop healthy relationships and impact our world. We will also explore how Monte Vista Chapel can partner with you in your spiritual journey. Everyone should exit this class with a good idea of what a solid next step in their journey is. So whether you are exploring what our church has to offer, want to learn what this spiritual journey looks like, or are interested in becoming a member of MVC, this class is for you.

ESSENTIALS 1 - DISCOVERING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
Foundational to becoming a Christ-follower is understanding the gospel of grace, knowing how to grow in grace and recognizing the enemies of grace. Essentials 1 will help you do that! Whether you have not yet made the decision to become a Christ follower, or you are needing some reminders about the core beliefs of Christianity, this class is designed for you. Come with your doubts, questions and hunger to know God and you will find leaders who will warmly embrace you wherever you are in your journey.

Right before He ascended into heaven Jesus said:
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20
The Christian Education Department at Monte Vista Chapel exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
We are all somebody's disciple. Have you ever thought about that? Who or what has taught you "how to live"? Perhaps it was your parents, teachers, crucial people, friends, or the many forms of media? But who we are and what we believe have a lot to do with significant influences in our past.
To become a disciple of Jesus means renewing our minds with the truths of God and His Word, with an intentional focus on living in the Kingdom of God. It means identifying our false beliefs and ways of life. It means learning from Jesus how to live our lives as He would live our lives if he were us. "Doing life in the name of Jesus..." (Col. 3:23) is a very intentional and daily goal. And we need to know the Bible...God's instruction manual on disciple-making....in order to develop a biblical worldview as the lens through which we see all of life.
If you are new to MVC or new to the Bible or you want to grow a solid bibilical foundation/worldview in your life, we encourage you to enroll in a Christian education class...and become intentional about spiritual transformation, and becoming a disciple of Jesus.
Director of Christian Education: Judy Jeter
Judy's passion is to see the followers of Jesus reflect His nature and character in their homes, marriages, work, neighborhoods, community and world. A key part of that vision is equipping every believer with the truth of God's word and practical ways to live out those truths as contagious Christians. She has served in various ministries at MVC for 25+ years, and currently leads the Christian Education team. She is married to John, and has two adult children.
