Prayer Pagers

Article Pic

In an effort to be a community that shows love to one another, we would like to invite you to pray for those who are in need and encourage them in a practical way. We have begun using a Prayer-Pager System. Pagers are given to those who are facing serious medical- or family-crisis situations. The names of those who receive pagers and the pager numbers will be listed on an insert in the Worship Guide and on this webpage. When you have prayed for someone with a pager, simply call their pager number, listen for a series of beeps, then enter your zip code and hang up. By doing this, the person will know our community is actively praying for them.

Here are the current pager carriers:

Sarah Anderson 236-2018

(Sarah has been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, and it has spread to her lungs.) She is encouraged that it is early stage 4. She if very nervous about starting her chemo this week. She is a nurse, so she is aware of all the things that can go wrong. She is asking that we pray for her to have a little courage as she goes through her first treatment. She is waiting for the call that her appointment for chemo has been scheduled. She is so thankful for all the prayers; the pager has been so comforting to her.

Barbara Carlton Prayer 236-2003

(Barbara has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.) Barbara had another chemo treatment and is feeling very weak. Her blood counts are really low. She had a series of shots this week to bring it up. Each time she has a treatment it brings her blood count down. She is asking for prayer that her blood counts will come up and that she will be protected from any viruses.

Brendy Lundquist 236-2060

Brendy went home to be with the Lord on November 6, 2009. Her services will be held at Monte Vista Chapel on Saturday, November 14 at 11:00am. Please be in prayer for her husband Randy, and her boys Logan and Colton during this very difficult time.

Neil & Susie Marshall 236-2052

(Neil is recovering from several brain surgeries. Susie is dealing with MS, and her mother is battling cancer.) Neil has had a few episodes, but nothing they cannot handle. Neil returns to UCSF for a check-up in December. They just received news about Susie's mom; the doctor has said there is nothing more they can do for her cancer. They will continue with her pain medications and she will live as much life as God has given her. Her mom is at peace and is enjoying every moment she has been given. Continue to lift their entire family up in prayer, that they will build sweet memories this Thanksgiving.

Teresa Mendoza 236-2031

(Teresa is 29 years old and diagnosed advanced colon cancer) Cancer free...and God alone gets all the glory!!! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! I love you all!! God is good ALL THE TIME!"

Anastasia Miller 236-2067

Lift my sister-in-law, Anastasia up in prayer. She was taken to Doctor's Hospital because of problems with her liver and fluid in her lungs. While in the hopsital, she had cardiac arrest. At one point this week they were not sure if she was going to make any improvements. As of Wednesday afternoon, her lungs are slowly clearing up a bit and there is improvement in her breathing. They have been able to lower the amount of oxygen that she is receiving, which is a praise! She is still sedated and her family has not been able to talk with her. Lift Anastasia up in prayer, for healing both physically and spritually. Pray also for her two young teenage sons. Amanda Parker

Alex Moreno 236-2063

(Alex has an aggressive form of thyroid cancer. The cancer has spread outside of the thyroid and is also in his lungs. He is being treated at Stanford.) Alex is having a lot of trouble breathing. They are also having problems getting oxygen approved for him. They are asking for prayer that the insurance will approve oxygen for him to use. Alex is also having other symptoms, and will be referred to specialists. Lift Alex up in prayer, that God will touch his body and bring healing. They are thankful for the ways in which God has provided for their every need, and are praising Him. Continue to lift their family up in prayer.

John Nelson 236-2023

(John has an aggressive type of non-hodgkins lymphoma, stage 4. This type of cancer has no cure, but can potentially be managed with extended chemo after remission.) Radiation continues to go well with no side affects except for a little fatigue. John caught a cold but seems to be getting over it. He continues to walk each morning for 30 minutes. John had a good talk with the radiologist and has an appointment to see the oncologist on Thursday. Please pray for wisdom as to future treatment after radiation. Thank you again for your concern and prayers.

Juli Turnbow 236-2061

(Juli was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a lumpectomy on February 11) As of today, I am half way through with radiation treatments. 17 down...16 to go. I'm feeling tired but am thankful that my skin is not burning. I've been praying one of my favorite Psalms while having my treatment. Psalm 121 "I lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Where it says "...the sun will not harm you by day," I add my own words "nor the radiation from this machine." "The Lord will keep you from all harm." Amen! I am so thankful for the promises of God! And I am thankful for your continued prayers. Juli

Answered Prayers

"Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete." John 16:24

If you have experienced answered prayer (personally or as a group) please email them to Pastor Dave with the details and what you have experienced. Answered prayers will be listed anonymously. A new list is started at the beginning of each month.

E-Mail Prayer Group

We have an E-mail Prayer Group. As MVC receives prayer requests, we send out one e-mail letting people know. This is a great way to have up-to-date information about MVC family members. How awesome to know that hundreds of people are praying for the needs of the MVC families. If you would like to be added to the MVC E-mail Prayer Group, fill out this FORM. Know that your personal information will NEVER be given out or sold to anyone.

Crisis Care

In the case of death, serious illness, or crisis situation on the weekend or when the church office is closed, we now have a crisis-care line at the church. If you have a crisis situation, call the MVC church line (634-4935) and choose option #2 to get the pager number and for instructions to have an on-call pastor paged.
