Kidmo!
Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m., CMB 232, September through June.
Kidmo is an interactive multi-media-based curriculum for our first through fourth graders. Kidmo is not about information, but rather transformation. Not just biblical stories, but a biblical world view is taught. Every effort is made to reach God's truth in ways that impact a child's choices and actions. Five distinct components are used to accomplish this: a teaching time, praise and worship, memory verses, interactive games, and small groups.
Two teams of people who desire to help children to know Christ and grow spiritually serve in Kidmo . Each team works six weeks on then six weeks off.
AWANA
AWANA, a program for children ages three to sixth grade, meets on Wednesdays 6:45-8:15 p.m., September through May. AWANA begins this fall on SEPTEMBER 9,2009. Our AWANA club's theme verse is "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Faith," 2 Timothy 2:15. This is what AWANA stands for: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
There are four different clubs which incorporate into their evening games, Bible memorization, small groups and lesson times. A highlight each year is the Grand Prix in which third- to sixth-grade clubbers buy a pinewood derby kit, design their own car, and race it. Trophies are awarded for first through third place in speed and design. AWANA clubs are:
- Cubbies: 3's through 5's (the two years before Kindergarten); NEB117
- Sparks: K through 2nd grade; WJB Travertine Room
- TNT Girls: 3rd through 6th grades; CMB232
- TNT Boys: 3rd through 6th grades, NEB214
Current Children's Ministries
MVC Children Center - NurseriesOur nurseries are staffed by parents and volunteers who genuinely love children. All nurseries are over-seen by a paid part-time nursery director. It is our desire to provide the highest possible quality of care for children and to create an atmosphere where they may feel secure and loved. In all nurseries volunteers are screened and a two-adult rule is enforced to protect our children and MVC from any accusations of inappropriate behavior.
The health of each child is important, therefore, we ask that children are not brought to a nursery if they have any of the following symptoms:
• a runny nose (allergies and teething are exceptions)
• coughing, sneezing or runny eyes
• an elevated temperature
• diarrhea or vomiting
• contagious skin rash
• inflamed mouth or throat
Baby Nursery (Birth to 18 months)
Available: Sundays 9:15 a.m. & 11:00 a.m., and Wednesdays 6:45-8:15 p.m.
Families are all registered in our computers for checking in and out. Pictures are taken of each child and parent for security purposes. Parents are given a magnetic card which is used to check in and out their child. Parents are given a pager when they check in their child.
• Babies are separated into three rooms to guard the safety of our newborn babies while allowing more freedom of movement for our active toddlers.
• Babies are never left unattended.
• Diapers are changed every hour.
• Volunteers wash hands immediately after changing each diaper or wear latex gloves. An instant hand sanitizer which kills 99.9% of all disease-causing germs is used.
• A small snack is provided for babies who sit up and have teeth.
• All toys are sanitized and the nursery is thoroughly cleaned after each use.
Early-Childhood Nursery (18 months to Kindergarten)
Families are all registered in our computers for checking in and out. Pictures are taken of each child and parent for security purposes.
• A snack is served to all children during the nursery hour.
• Bible stories, videos, and crafts are used to teach biblical principles.
• Outside play times are scheduled to give everyone an opportunity for large-muscle activities.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School classes are broken down by age groups which meet at 9:15 a.m. every Sunday. The purpose of these classes reflects our church's mission which is to help children to know Christ, and then to grow in their relationship with Him. It is also each teacher's desire to develop a relationship with their children so they might encourage them. Classes use purchased curriculum as well as games, songs, and crafts to teach the lesson.

Promotion of classes is the last Sunday of August. Sixth graders promote to junior high in June.
In July and August, we have summer electives or large-group activities during the Sunday School hour for all kids who will be entering second to sixth grade in the new school year. This is a great time for kids to have fun while learning about God. It also gives our elementary teachers a break.
